Police in attack murder inquiry quiz two people as three others released

police who are investigating the death of a 19-year-old man in Parson Cross, Sheffield, yesterday released three people but continued to question two others on suspicion of murder.

The victim, who was yesterday named as Jamie Stuart, of Orchard Close, Ecclesfield, was discovered at 12.30am on Saturday by a member of the public in Holgate Avenue, Parson Cross.

He was taken to the Northern General Hospital by ambulance but died of his injuries about an hour later.

Yesterday South Yorkshire Police said he had died of stab wounds.

Detectives believe Mr Stuart may have attended a function at the White Horse public house in Halifax Road on Friday evening before leaving at 11pm.

The victim is thought to have been making his way home towards the Ecclesfield area when he was attacked.

Police said yesterday that three people, two men and a juvenile, arrested on Saturday morning in connection with the incident, had been released without charge. Two people arrested on Saturday afternoon on suspicion of murder, a man and a juvenile, remained in custody yesterday assisting police with their inquiries.
