Police fears for missing baby in Doncaster

POLICE are worried about the welfare of a missing newborn baby who was taken away from hospital by his parents.

Jayne Kirby and Marcus Stapleton were seen leaving Doncaster Royal Infirmary with their four-day-old son Leylan at 7.30pm yesterday, South Yorkshire Police said.

A force spokesman said: “Medical professionals and police are concerned for the welfare of the baby and believe he may need medical assessment.”

Ms Kirby, 32, and Mr Stapleton, 38, are from the Bentley area of Doncaster but could be anywhere in the town, the spokesman added.

Ms Kirby is white and has long black hair, which is shaved on the left side.

She was last seen wearing skinny blue jeans, knee-high suede-like boots with a small heel.

She had a black jacket with a faux fur-lined hood and had a large leopard-print bag with her.

Mr Stapleton is white, has short dark hair, and was wearing a blue/grey beanie hat.

He was wearing a matching dark grey tracksuit with a blue lining to the hood and it has a blue stripe across the back.

He was wearing black trainers, possibly Nike, with white swoosh logo. He was carrying the baby and a bag for life-type carrier bag.

Officers are asking anyone with information to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident 966 on January 23.
