Police hunt for man over Leeds city centre murder LATEST

Marlon Small, 31, of Chapeltown, was found collapsed in Merrion Street at 1.26am on Saturday.

A post mortem examination showed Mr Small, pictured in the grey shirt, died from a single stab wound.

Detectives investigating the murder urgently want to speak to Damien Dhers, 33, from Chapeltown, pictured in the blue t-shirt.

Detective chief inspector Jim Dunkerley, from West Yorkshire Police Protective Services Crime, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who has seen Damien Dhers or who knows his whereabouts.

“It is vitally important that we trace him at the earliest opportunity as he has been identified as someone of significant interest to this investigation.

“He is from the Chapeltown area but has links across the Leeds district and possibly further afield.

“Anyone who sees him should not approach him but should contact the police immediately on 999.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to remind people that there can be very serious consequences for anyone involved in assisting an offender in a murder investigation.”

Two men, aged 44 and 29, were arrested as part of the investigation into Mr Small’s death.

Both have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Floral tributes and candles have been gathering over the weekend outside The Lounge Bar and Grill on Merrion Street.

A tribute, which had been pinned to a railing from what appears to be the victim’s wife, read: “Miss you loads and loads already. So is our beautiful princess. I’m heartbroken you are no longer here with us.

“I’m glad I was able to have someone so special in my life.

“You are an inspiration to us all. I love your personality, drive, determination and courage.

“You are my soldier, my hubby, my life.

“I’m glad you was able to get the chance to see how much I really loved you and your princess.

“We know you will be watching down on us all God has gained a stronger hearted, kind lovable, intelligent angel.

“You are the other part to my heart.”

Tributes to the victim have also poured in to social networking websites.

Natalie McGrath posted on Facebook: “This is really sad and my thoughts and sympathy goes to his family.”

Denise Dixon said: “Nobody deserves to go for a night out and not return home safely. RIP x”

Jo Clement added: “So sad.”
