Police investigate after reports of child abduction in West Yorkshire

Police are investigating following a report of an attempted child abduction in West Yorkshire.

Extensive enquiries have been conducted and West Yorkshire Police now believe this not to be the case.

West Yorkshire Police updated the public on social media.

They said the officers "responded swiftly" and any similar report suggesting a child is in danger "is treated extremely seriously".

The force said: "It is our understanding that no threats were made towards the boy and there was no physical contact or attempt made to follow him.

"Enquiries are continuing into the circumstances of this incident, which happened at about 8.35am in Backhold Lane.

"Officers responded swiftly to the report as any report suggesting a child is in danger is treated extremely seriously.

"Neighbourhood officers will be providing reassurance in the area over coming days.
