Police release pictures of Huddersfield looters

POLICE in Huddersfield today released CCTV images of a group of youths attacking a police car and looting a supermarket.

The Asda store on Bradford Road was attacked by four youths, who smashed windows and stole five TV sets, on the evening of August 9.

The TVs were found abandoned in the car park of the store after the thieves fled when alarms were activated by staff.

At the same time, two police officers who were at the store in a police car received minor injuries after their car had objects thrown at it by a larger group of youths in the car park area.

Det Chief Insp Andy White of West Yorkshire Police said: “The communities of Huddersfield have been appalled at the behaviour of the mindless few who have sullied the good name and reputation the people of Huddersfield have worked so hard to build.

“All our officers are determined to quickly arrest the offenders, to put them before the courts and before their peers so that they can be exposed for their actions.”

36 people have so far been arrested in connection with incidents of disorder in Huddersfield last week.
