Officers from South Yorkshire Police came across the couple who had a flat tyre on their car, which they were unaware of, on Wednesday.

PCSO Gavin and PCSO Bullas pulled the couple to safety on the side of the road, when the couple told them that the lady had a Covid-19 vaccine booked at Sheffield Arena and only had 15 minutes to get there.

The officers were applauded for their efforts by staff at the vaccination centre.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We don't just fight crime.

"PCSO Gavin 8095 and PCSO Bullas 8287 came across an elderly couple who sadly had a flat tyre on their vehicle, which they didn't not know about. We assisted them to a safe place to park only to learn that the lady had a Covid vaccine booked in and only had 15 mins to get there.

"With the current situation and the lady's vulnerabilities we could not let her miss her vaccine so we drove her there and then reunited her with her husband.

"When the PCSOs left the vaccine centre the staff working there gave them a round of applause for their good work.

"All in a day's work."
