Police search River Foss as hunt for missing York student continues

THE HUNT for missing York student Ethan Peters is due to continue tomorrow after a search of the River Foss was completed this afternoon.

The last confirmed sighting of Mr Peters was in Coney Street at 11.55pm on Sunday night.

Detectives are making extensive CCTV enquiries to help piece together a timeline of his last movements.

Tomorrow officers are due to carry out ground searches of Mr Peters’ usual route from the city centre to his home in the Hull Road area.

Although it is not known if he took this route, police said this activity forms part of the overall search.

The underwater search team will also return to the city on Sunday if needed.

Insp Martin Metcalfe, who is based in York, said: “Ethan has not been seen since Sunday and his disappearance is completely out of character.

“We’re working closely with his family and providing support to them during this difficult time.

“We’re also continuing to appeal for the public’s help are keeping an open mind with regards to the investigation.

“I’d like to reiterate our appeal for information today – it’s vital that anyone who thinks they may have seen Ethan since Sunday or has any other information contacts us immediately on 101.”

Mr Peters is described as slim, 175cms tall and has dark brown hair.

He was last seen wearing glasses, jeans or chinos, a black jacket and a navy blue polo shirt.
