Police search for white van driver with bushy moustache who followed 11-year-old schoolgirls in Yorkshire

Police are searching for a suspect after two 11-year-old schoolgirls were followed by a white van in Yorkshire.

It happened in Aiskew, North Yorkshire, on A684 Bedale Road near to the railway level crossing.

Two 11-year-old girls were approached by a man in a white van at 4.30pm on Tuesday December 1.

The driver, who is described as a white male in his 50s with a bushy moustache and beard, got out the van and shouted to the girls.

The girls became frightened and ran home.

A second incident happened at about 8.15am on Tuesday December 15 at the same location.

The same van and driver followed the girls as they were walking to school, driving slowly alongside and in front of them.

The girls reported the incident to their school and to police.

North Yorkshire Police have launched an appeal to find the van and the driver.

The white van has a broken wing mirror and a cracked windscreen, with a registration possibly including AP17.

The suspect driver is described as a white male with short shaved dark brown or black hair, with a bushy moustache and beard.

He is aged in his 50s and was wearing a black and red chequered shirt and grey jogging bottoms at the time of the offence.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "Police are conducting patrols in the area to reassure the community and help identify the suspect vehicle and driver.

"We are also requesting the public’s assistance to help identify the vehicle and driver."
