Police seek man who had offered to work at homes after cash and purse theft

A man who has been approaching residents in Selby asking to do work for them is being sought by police over the theft of a purse and cash.

It happened on York Road, North Duffield between 5.45am and 8am on Sunday when an offender entered a residential property.

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for information about a man with a motorbike seen in the area between approximately 5.30 and 6.30am. He is reported to have offered to do work for local residents and has been seen in the area of the nursery by the village playing field.

He is described as a white man, aged late thirties to early forties, with short dark hair, small and stocky build with fringing on the arms of his jacket. He was riding an old fashioned motorbike and may have had a back-pack.
