Police unveil 'rainbow' cars to support Hull's first national Pride event

HUMBERSIDE Police have unveiled two brightly coloured 'rainbow' patrol cars  ahead of the first UK national Pride event in Hull this weekend.

When parked side by side the cars form a rainbow - a symbol of LGBT Pride.

The unveiling took place in Queen Victoria Square, Hull, today as part of the City of Culture’s Challenge Hull initiative.

The weekly event invites people and community groups to set weekly challenges for Hullensians and visitors to take part in and share on social media with the hashtag #challengehull.

The challenge for the week commencing July 17 was set by Pride in Hull to ‘make a rainbow.’

Humberside Police Chief Superintendent Christine Wilson, said: “Humberside Police is a diverse organisation operating within a diverse community. “We’ll also be supporting the Pride event on July 22, making sure people are safe but also to showcase all that we do, particularly in respect of crime prevention and how to report hate crime. We’ll also be sharing information on how to become a police volunteer, special constable or police cadet.”
