Probe into homophobic bar attack

TWO gay men were headbutted and punched in the face by an unknown attacker in a South Yorkshire nightclub during what police have described as a homophobic attack.

The two men were on the dancefloor of Digital bar in Wellington Street, Barnsley, when they were assaulted.

One of the men, aged 24, was headbutted, and the other, aged 32, was punched in the face by the same man.

The suspect is described as being a white man, between 6ft and 6ft 4ins tall, of a stocky build and in his late 20s.

Police say the men were assaulted due to their sexuality and are now appealing for witnesses to the attack, which took place at around 12.45am on Sunday, October 27.

One of the men’s friends has also posted a message online calling for anyone who saw the attack to come forward.
