Police said: “A JCB has been used to knock out the cashpoint from the wall and that has been taken away from the scene by means of a flat back trailer.”

Officers are urging farmers and others in the area to keep an eye out for any “unusual” vehicles after the thieves made off with the ATM on a flat back trailer.

Anyone with relevant information is being urged to call North Yorkshire police on 101.
