Rotherham ‘targeted’ gunshot victim fights for life

a MAN is fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot in a targeted attack in Rotherham.

Armed officers were called to a house in Doncaster Road, Wath-upon-Dearne, after the shooting last night.

The 42-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains seriously ill.

Emergency services were called to the house, next door to a takeaway, at 8.40pm yesterday after receiving reports of a man with a gunshot wound.

South Yorkshire Police are investigating the shooting but said there was no threat to the wider public.

A force spokeswoman said: “Detectives investigating the incident believe this was an isolated targeted attack.

“Officers are on the scene and inquiries continue.”

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the Doncaster Road area between 8.15pm and 9pm yesterday to contact them.
