Sex assault charge soldier remanded in custody

A soldier who is accused of sexually assaulting a teenager near a railway station has been remanded in custody.

The 18-year-old woman was allegedly attacked in New Park Avenue, Bexhill, East Sussex, as she walked away from the town’s railway station at about 3.40am on August 19, a Sussex Police spokesman said.

Trevor Anthony Clark, 20, a soldier stationed at Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, who was staying in Buckhurst Road, Bexhill, appeared at Hastings Magistrates’ Court yesterday (August 27) charged with sexual assault and causing actual bodily harm.

He will next appear at the same court on September 4.
