Stokes, of Church Lane, Woodhouse, had admitted nine offences including charges of sexual activity with a child and producing indecent images of children.

Detective Constable Ashlea Taylor-Jones of South Yorkshire Police, said: “This inquiry uncovered years of abuse against a vulnerable girl, who was groomed by Stokes for his own sexual gratification.

“His criminality is inexcusable and I am pleased he pleaded guilty, sparing his young victim the distress of going to court for a trial.

“She has been remarkably brave throughout the investigation and I commend her for the courage she has shown.

“She is now receiving support from our partner agencies. I hope today’s result sends a further message that South Yorkshire Police does not tolerate child sexual exploitation and we will do whatever we can to bring offenders of this vile crime before the courts.”
