A Sheffield man is due in court today over a Syria-related terror offence.

Shvan Haydar Aziz, 21, from Washington Road, Sharrow, is accused of preparing for acts of terrorism.

He was one of four men arrested by officers from the West Midlands Police Counter Terrorism unit last week.

Aziz was arrested in Sheffield.

Aras Mohamed Hamid, aged 26, from Kent, is also charged with preparing for acts of terrorism and Ahmad Ismail, 19, from Portwrinkle Avenue, Coventry, is charged with failing to disclose information to the police of an offence involving the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism.

A fourth man, aged 32, who was arrested in Margate, remains on police bail pending further enquiries.

The suspects are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court today.

Yesterday, officers arrested a further man on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism offences as part of the same police operation.

The 33-year-old was detained at an address in Birmingham city centre on suspicion of preparing for terrorist acts.
