Shocking video shows Bradford police officer being attacked as he tries to arrest man

A police officer has been assaulted by a man he was trying to speak to in a shocking attack caught on camera.

In the footage, filmed on a passer-by's mobile phone, the officer can be seen approaching a young man driving a red hatchback who then pushes him to the ground.

The incident happened on Grantham Road in Great Horton, Bradford, yesterday morning.

"Enquiries are ongoing today after a police officer was assaulted in Bradford.

"The incident occurred at about 11.35am yesterday on Grantham Road after a police officer was assaulted by a male who he was speaking with regarding a traffic matter. The suspect then made off from the scene, damaging a police car in the process.

"The male officer was not seriously injured but was taken to hospital for treatment.

"A number of enquiries into the incident remain ongoing and anyone who saw the assault is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police on 101, referencing crime number 13180366948."
