Singer’s son has his face slashed in vicious assault

THE son of Yorkshire rock singer John Parr has had his face slashed in a vicious assault, police revealed yesterday.

James Parr, 21, was attacked by two men while he was getting something from the boot of his car.

His father John, from Sykehouse, near Doncaster, achieved worldwide fame with his 1985 US number one hit single St Elmo’s Fire.

He declined to comment on the attack which happened in East Cowick, near Thorne, on February 14.

A Humberside Police spokesman said: “A 21-year-old man was retrieving something from the boot of his car when two men allegedly approached him in a Mitsubishi L200.

“The two men then assaulted the victim by kicking him to the ground and then slashed his face with a knife.”

James Parr was treated at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Humberside Police say both suspects are white.

One is described as being aged 35 to 40 of stocky build and about 5ft 10in tall. The other is described as being in his late 40s and about 6ft 2in tall, of large build, with a beer belly.

Detectives have issued E-fits of the men they would like to trace in connection with the incident.
