Students robbed near halls in Leeds

Police are appealing for information following the incidents near to Oxley Hall halls of residence in Weetwood at the weekend.

At about 12.10pm on Saturday two men walked up to a 19-year-old woman in Otley Road near to Oxley Hall.

They grabbed her bag, causing her to drop it, and ran off with her iPod, bank cards and cash.

One of the robbers was described as very dark-skinned, aged 18 to 20 and about 5ft 9ins tall. He was wearing a light grey marl hooded top.

The other was white, about the same age and about 5ft 6ins tall. He was wearing a white hooded top with a zip.

The second incident happened at about 12.30pm on Sunday, when a 19-year-old man was robbed on a footpath near the same halls.

One man pushed him against a fence and demanded cash before an accomplice punched him in the face.

They grabbed his headphones before the victim broke free and ran off. The headphones were later found at the scene.

One of the robbers was white, aged about 17 to 18, slim, with short, dark blond shaved hair. He had a strong Yorkshire accent and was wearing a black hooded top.

The other was darker skinned with a big nose. He was 17 or 18 years-old and possibly had a thin black moustache. He was also wearing a black hooded top.

West Yorkshire Police said it was not clear if the infi officers from the local neighbourhood policing team were liaising with university security over the incidents.
