Tattooed robber threatened Leeds shop worker with hammer: CCTV images of suspect

A ROBBER with distinctive tattoos threatened a woman working in a  Leeds shop with a hammer.

The man is wanted over a robbery at the Everyday Essentials shop on Blackman Lane near Leeds city centre.

He threatened the lone female shop assistant with a hammer and demanded she open the till.

He then tried unsuccessfully to open the till himself before taking the victim’s purse from her handbag and leaving the store.

He was described as white, about 5ft 8in tall, and of slim build. He was wearing a khaki-coloured hooded raincoat, black tracksuit bottoms with a single white line down each leg and white trainers.

He has distinctive tattooing across all four fingers of his left hand and on his right wrist.

Acting Detective Sergeant Tom Hilyer, of Leeds District CID, said: “The tattoos across the fingers are quite unusual and together with the part of his face that is visible on the CCTV we hope someone will recognise him.

“This was a frightening experience for the victim and we would ask that anyone who thinks they know who he is contacts us immediately.”

The robbery happened at about 5pm on Friday December 29, but police only released details today. (Weds Jan 31)
