The last Friday before Christmas is traditionally one of the busiest nights of the year for the city’s bars and clubs as well as for the police.

The incident comes less than a fortnight after 28-year-old Robert Adamczyk died after being attacked on a stag night in Leeds.

Mr Adamczyk, of South Milford, near Selby, was assaulted outside the Leeds Grand Theatre on New Briggate in the early hours of Sunday, December 9.

He died in Leeds General Infirmary as a result of severe head injuries. Three men, aged 18, are on police bail in connection with the incident.
