Teenager sexually assaulted in Halifax park

Detectives are appealing for information following a sexual assault on a teenager in a Halifax park.

The incident happened at 11.50am on Saturday (May 14) as the 19-year-old woman was walking alone through Shroggs Park.

The woman was approached from behind by an unknown man who sexually assaulted her.

The man exposed himself when she turned around and asked what he was doing.

The suspect is described as a thin, 5ft 5in tall white man in his late teens to early twenties.

He had a gaunt face and pale skin and spoke with a local accent.

Detective Constable Louise Halliwell of Calderdale CID said, “Clearly this has been a traumatic incident for the victim, and I would appeal to anyone who may have been in or around Shroggs Park during mid to late morning on Saturday, and who may have seen someone matching the suspect’s description, or who may have witnessed the incident itself to come forward. Enquiries are continuing.”
