Three arrests in Rotherham CSE investigation

THREE men have been arrested by officers in the multi-million pound investigation into child abuse in Rotherham.

National Crime Agency (NCA) officers made the arrests this morning (Tuesday) and the three men are being questioned by officers at a police station in South Yorkshire on suspicion of indecent assault. The offences are all believed to have taken place against girls aged under 16.

Operation Stovewood was launched in the wake of the child sexual exploration scandal in the town.

It is investigating CSE and abuse in Rotherham between 1997 and 2003.

Six people have been arrested since June, and officers currently have 34 “designated suspects”.

It has prioritised making contact with 113 victims and survivors so far, the NCA said. There are currently eight distinct major investigations within the overall investigation.
