Three men accused of murdering Bradley Gledhill in Batley remanded in custody after appearing before Leeds Crown Court

Three men accused of murdering a 20-year-old man in Batley and attempting to murder two others have been remanded in custody after appearing before a Crown court for the first time.

Usman Karolia, 19, of Lime Tree Avenue, Batley, Ahmed Karolia, 23, of Lime Tree Avenue, Batley and Raja Nawaz, 18, of Longfield Road, Heckmondwike, appeared at Leeds Crown Court today over the death of Bradley Gledhill.

Mr Gledhill, 20, was stabbed during fighting on Park Croft, Batley, at around 10.28pm on Sunday June 21

Two other males also suffered serious but not life threatening injuries.

All three defendants appeared in court via video link from custody.

None of the charges were put to any of the defendants.

The case was adjourned until July 23 when a plea and trial preparation hearing will take place.

A provisional trial date was set for December 7.

No bail applications were made by lawyers representing the defendants.

All three will remain in custody until the next hearing.

An 18-year-old Batley man arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder has been released on police bail.

Enquiries remain ongoing into the incident and the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team continue to appeal for witnesses.
