Three more men arrested over murder of 20-year-old in Batley

Bradley Stuart Gledhill was stabbed during a fight between a group of men on Sunday evening.

He was taken to hospital but later died.

Two other males allegedly involved in the fighting also suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police have launched a murder investigation and arrested two men on Monday in connection to the incident.

A 19-year-old Batley man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody, while a 31-year-old Heckmondwike man arrested on suspicion of affray is no longer considered a suspect and has been released.

Detectives have now arrested another three men in connection with Bradley's death.

Officers executed warrants in Batley and Heckmondwike in the early hours this morning (Tuesday) and arrested two men, aged 18 and 23, from Batley and an 18-year-old man from Heckmondwike.

All were arrested on suspicion of murder.

West Yorkshire Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and have released details of an online portal witnesses can send information to.

Senior Investigating Officer, DCI Vanessa Rolfe of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “We are continuing a number of enquiries into this fatal incident in a residential street in Batley and now have five men under arrest in custody.

“I want to thank residents who have got in touch with information so far and again encourage anyone who can assist our investigation to come forwards, either to the police via 101 or the online Major Incident Public Portal system.

"This system allows relevant information, video and pictures to be sent directly to detectives investigating offences.

“Reports can also be made anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity.

“Any scrap of information could be important as we work to investigate this serious disorder which has led to two men being injured and a young man losing his life.”
