Three women have jewellery snatched from their necks in same part of Hull

A police investigation is underway after three women had necklaces snatched from their necks in the same area of Hull in as many days.

One of the women suffered a broken wrist after being pushed to the floor during the attack, while detectives say all three suffered reddening to the neck.

Humberside Police say they are keeping an open mind about who is responsible, and that it is too early to say whether the attacks in the Beverley Road area are linked.

The first incident took place around 6pm on Sunday 18 October in Hardy Street where a woman had a gold necklace snatched from around her neck by an approaching man.

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week two further incidents happened on Stepney Lane in Hull at 2:20pm and 1:30pm respectively, when a man approached a woman and took a necklace from around their necks.

In the last incident the elderly victim was pushed to the floor and had her handbag stolen. Two of the victims are in their 70s, whilst the third is in her 50s.

The suspect in each incident was described by the victims as being a white man, aged between 20 and 30 years of age, around 6ft tall of medium build with short, light coloured hair.

Detective Sergeant Adrian Dalby from Humberside's community policing team said: "We are keeping an open mind about who is responsible for these incidents, and at present it is too early to say if the robberies are linked.

"Whilst our enquiries continue, we would urge people to stay vigilant and inform us of any suspicious activity, and dial 999 if they have any cause for concern.

"We would appeal for anyone with information to call Humberside Police on 101 quoting log 432 of 18 October, log 241 of 21 October and log 241 of 22 October 2015. Calls can also be made anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
