Isaac Nash, from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, was on holiday when he went missing at Aberffraw, Anglesey, North Wales, on Friday lunchtime.

He was reportedly with members of his family who became stuck on rocks in the estuary.

It is understood that initially two boys had been playing in the water when they got into difficulty in rough seas and relatives had tried to rescue them.

Anglesey coastguard manager Dave Brewer said it was understood the father of one of the boys managed to grab him while the grandfather tried to grab the other child.

He said: “The grandfather went in to rescue the other lad and a wave swept over. He managed to grab the rocks but lost grip of the child that is missing.”

Coastguard rescue teams, RNLI lifeboats, a RAF rescue helicopter and police were involved in the initial search for the youngster, which resumed at first light yesterday.

A spokeswoman for North Wales Police said yesterday: “Three lifeboats were launched this morning and continue to search the area whilst being supported by the police helicopter.

“Officers have been patrolling the shoreline, along with family members and local volunteers wishing to help.

“Further specialist support from the police underwater search team will provide assistance during this afternoon.

“Isaac, who is from the Huddersfield area, was on holiday with his family at the time of the incident.”

Coastguards and police continued their search today, concentrating their efforts at low tide.

The alarm was raised at around 12.30pm on Friday, when an initial 999 call reported three people, thought to be from Huddersfield, were stuck on rocks in the estuary.

Since then, a page set up in Isaac’s memory on Facebook has attracted dozens of comments.
