Two 14-year-olds arrested over death of boy, 15, released under investigation

The two 14-year-old boys who were arrested in connection with the death of a York boy aged 15 have been released under investigation.

North Yorkshire Police said a girl, aged 15, a 16-year-old boy, a 33-year-old woman and a man, 37, all remain in police custody following the death of the teen on Sunday (Sep 27).

The force said the boy, who was from the New Earswick area of York, died after taking illegal drugs. It is believed the boy was with a group of others who were also taking illegal drugs.

A member of the public found the boy an alley off Hospital Fields Road in York shortly before 4am on Sunday, and Yorkshire Ambulance Service alerted North Yorkshire Police police just after 7am.

In an update, North Yorkshire Police said: "We are not yet in a position to name the boy who has died. If anyone has any information about the incident, or if you saw a group of teenagers in the Fulford area of York in the early hours of Sunday 28 September, please get in touch with police."
