Update: Sheffield park on alert today after boy approached by man

POLICE have stepped up patrols in a Sheffield park following a report that a man made an approach to an 11-year-old boy.

The boy was uninjured following the incident near the entrance to Millhouses Park at 9am yesterday.

Police say they believe it was an isolated incident but high visibility patrols will be mounted throughout today.

Police said the boy had been out running with his mum. He had briefly stopped to pick something up when he was approached by the man who is described as being about 5ft 7ins tall.

The boy was not injured and ran to his mum to raise the alarm.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who saw a man acting suspiciously in the park, is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
