Video: Did you see this witness to Leeds park murder?

Police are continuing their appeal to trace a potential witness filmed near the scene where a man's body was found in a Leeds park last year.

The body of Polish national Waldek Mural, 57, was found in Burley Park, off Cardigan Lane, shortly before 7am on Saturday September 5, last year.

Officers released footage and audio of a man they want to speak to as a potential witness last month but are still keen to hear from anyone with any information.

He was filmed on a mobile phone by a concerned member of the public who came across him sitting on a wall by the side of road in Park View Road, Burley, at about 2am on the day Mr Mural’s body was found nearby in the park.

He appears to be in his late teens to early twenties, slim, with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured t-shirt with bands of white round the sleeves, dark-coloured jeans and white trainers.

Det Chief Insp Jim Dunkerley, of West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “Despite a reasonable level of coverage in the media and on social media, we have not yet received any information that could assist us in identifying this man.

“The footage gives a fairly clear impression of what he looks like and we hope that by including his voice someone will recognise him.

“He seemed to be slurring as if he had been out for the night and we are keen to hear from either the man himself or anyone who recognises him so we can speak to him at the earliest opportunity.

“This is a murder investigation and I cannot stress enough how important it is that we trace this man who may have information we need.”

A man has been charged with murder.
