Violence spread to other cities

WHILE Manchester and Salford bore the brunt of Tuesday night’s violence, other towns and cities were hit by rioting which continued into the early hours of yesterday and included the firebombing of a police station in Nottingham.

More than 90 troublemakers were arrested in the city and three other police stations were also attacked.

Merseyside Police reported 200 missile-throwing youths gathered in Toxteth, Liverpool, causing damage and trouble also spread to Birkenhead as up to 100 youths wrecked vehicles.

Around 60 thugs rampaged through the centre of Gloucester, throwing rocks and bottles at police and setting fire to bins and two cars, while police in Wolverhampton were called to reports of shops being attacked. There were arrests in Leicester and Bristol.
