Woman arrested for racially-aggravated assault after man and dog attacked

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of racially-aggravated assault after attacking a man and his dog.

The attack happened on Hob Moor in York on Tuesday, June 9.

Video footage of the incident went viral on social media.

Members of the public contacted the police after seeing the video.

North Yorkshire Police officers arrested a 51-year-old woman at an address in York at 2.25pm on Wednesday 10 June.

She was arrested on suspicion of racially-aggravated assault and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

She was further arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and possession of class B drugs.

She has been released on bail.
