Woman charged after falling TV kills her baby son

A WOMAN from Bradford has appeared in court over the death of her baby son in Burnley after a television fell on top of him.

Natalie McMillan, 24, cried throughout the hearing at Burnley Magistrates’ Court as she was charged with the manslaughter of four-month-old Kian.

The infant was taken to hospital with head injuries following the incident at his home in Scarlett Street on December 6 last year.

He was transferred from the Royal Blackburn Hospital to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital but died the next day.

McMillan, now of Dirkhill Road, Bradford, is also charged with child neglect between December 5 and 6.

Edward Hanratty, 40, also of Dirkhill Road, Bradford, is accused of child neglect on the same dates.

Both were granted bail as the case was committed to Burnley Crown Court.

The pair will next appear in court on May 21.
