Woman grabbed by robber in “distressing” incident in Leeds ginnel

A woman fought off a mugger who grabbed her in a ginnel in Leeds.

The 29-year-old victim was walking through the snicket between Lowell Place and Intake Road, in Swinnow, at about 7.30pm on Monday when she was grabbed by a man.

Police said she fought back and the man ran off with her purse which was later found nearby.

He was described as Asian, aged 25 to 30, about 6ft tall and of medium build, with brown eyes and short black hair.

He was wearing black trousers and a shiny black long-sleeved top which had a collar that went up to his throat.

Detective Sergeant Ni Khan, of Leeds neighbourhood crime team, said: “This was a distressing incident for the victim and we would like to hear from anyone who saw this man in the area around the time or who has any information that could assist the investigation.”
