Woman killed and man injured in early morning crash on Yorkshire road

A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving while over the limit after a woman was killed and a man seriously injured in a West Yorkshire crash.

It happened at about 3.15am on Saturday, March 7 on the B6108 Huddersfield Road in Huddersfield.

A white BMW Coupe car was travelling in the direction of Meltham when it crashed with a wall at the junction of Crossland Spring Road.

A passenger in the vehicle, a woman in her 20s, was fatally injured.

A man in his 20s, who was also a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver, a man in his 20s, sustained minor injuries.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while over the limit.

He has been released under investigation.

Officers in the Major Collision Enquiry Team are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact officers.
