Woman robbed of hand bag while she waits at South Yorkshire bus stop

A 60-year-old woman had her handbag snatched while she waited at a bus stop in Barnsley.

She and her husband were waiting for a bus just after midnight outside the Travellers Inn on Sheffield Road, Birdwell on Sunday when a small, dark coloured car pulled up alongside them.

A man sat in the back of the car, got out and snatched her handbag causing her to stumble and fall, before driving away.

South Yorkshire Police has issued a description of the suspect who is said to be white, about 5ft 9ins tall, in his early twenties, of average build, with short dark brown hair and a broad nose.

He was wearing grey over-sized jogging trousers with tight elasticated ankles and a short, dark padded bomber style jacket and dark trainers.
