The offenders are described as white and in their mid to late 20s.

Detectives believe they may have fled the scene in a silver coloured Vauxhall-type car with blacked-out windows.

Det Sgt Chris Horsley, the investigating officer on the case, said: “This incident occurred at a time when a number of people would have been in the area leaving for work or dropping children off at school.

“I need those people to cast their mind back and call us if they saw this car or anything that may help the investigation.

“The woman is currently being supported by specialist officers and I would like to reassure local residents that we are treating this incident as a priority.

“We are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area and patrols by neighbourhood officers have been increased in the area to reassure local residents.”

DS Horsley said there was not thought to be a link between yesterday’s attack and the rape of a woman in the Queen Street area of Balby on Saturday.

Anyone with information is asked to call South Yorkshire Police’s 101 phone number, quoting log reference 275 of February 24.
