Yorkshire: £1m haul of hard drugs seized in raids

A LENGTHY police investigation has led to the seizure of drugs worth £1 million and £250,000 in cash in a series of raids in Yorkshire.

Four men have been charged in connection with the large-scale supply of heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine to organised criminal gangs in south and west Yorkshire, as well as London.

Officers from the Serious and Organised Crime Unit have been involved in the investigation into the drugs supply chain, believed to be based in Sheffield.

Warrants were executed at properties in Sheffield Road and St Lawrence Road in Tinsley, Sheffield, Victoria Quays in Sheffield city centre, Callow Drive and Plowright Way in Gleadless, Sheffield, East Bawtry Road in Rotherham, and Fox Lane Court, Frechville, Sheffield.

All four men appeared before magistrates in Rotherham yesterday charged with offences including conspiracy to supply heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Three further arrests were made yesterday in Brighouse and Huddersfield on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

Temporary Detective Inspector Paul Wilson paid tribute to the “dedication and determination” of officers involved in the inquiry. “The investigation was designed to target the supply and distribution of heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine between organised criminal gangs and is still ongoing,” he said.
