Cross looks as graffiti artist gets Euro-fever

Patriotic passion is running high across the nation following the jubilee weekend and the start of the European Championships.

However one football fan seems to have taken his love of England to an extreme by painting an England flag on a hilltop overlooking Halifax.

The Cross of St George has been painted in red and white at the top of Southowram Bank, Halifax, and has attracted attention from across the region, although the painter responsible remains anonymous.

One onlooker said: “It will take some cleaning up, it is certainly very imposing.”

Meanwhile England striker Wayne Rooney’s wife Coleen is set to fly to Poland to join her husband at Euro 2012.

She is one of a number of so-called “Wags” (wives and girlfriends) who will travel to England’s base in Krakow.

The couple will be reunited after spending their fourth wedding anniversary apart yesterday.

Defender Phil Jones’s girlfriend Kaya Hall has tweeted that she was already on her way to eastern Europe.

She wrote: “Aw Happy Anniversary Coleen!! Might see you out there xxx”.
