Crossbow Cannibal victim kicked in head during earlier brutal attack

Suzanne Blamires, who was brutally killed by Crossbow Cannibal Stephen Griffiths, was repeatedly kicked in the head and body during an attack six months before her murder.

A woman who witnessed the attack in December 2009 feared the prostitute might be killed as Slovakian Jaroslav Balog and Czech national Jiri Soukal kicked her and assaulted her as she lay defenceless on the ground.

Prosecutor Alesha Kaye told Bradford Crown Court yesterday how one of the attackers demanded £40 from Miss Blamires and said the witness was also threatened during the incident in the City Road area.

The witness, who had been alerted by Miss Blamires’s screams, ran off in fear, but the two men were arrested soon afterwards.

Miss Blamires, 36, of Allerton, Bradford, who did not provide a statement after the attack, was found sat on a fence with blood on her coat and her hair messed up.

She suffered bruising around her bloodshot eyes and injuries to her hands and an arm.

Balog, 34, of Lidget Place, Bradford, and 22-year-old Soukal, of Stanmore Place, Bradford, both admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm at an earlier hearing and yesterday they were each jailed for 18 months.

Both pleaded guilty on the basis that they both denied jumping or stamping on Miss Blamires during the attack, but they accepted being involved in “persistent kicking”.

Miss Blamires’s dismembered body was found by police last year and Griffiths is currently serving three life sentences at Wakefield Prison for her murder and those of two other women.
