Crowds cheer Sam over the finishing line

EPIC runner Sam Boatwright was overcome with emotion as he jogged into Skipton after completing 50 miles a day for 50 days.

The former Royal Navy serviceman, now a personal trainer, completed a staggering 2,500 miles by the time he arrived home on Saturday.

He has raised over £14,000 for the Help for Heroes charity.

Mr Boatwright said: “Wow. I am truly overwhelmed by the most amazing reception into Skipton. I want to thank every single person that made the welcome home so great. Massive smile – massive run and home at last.”

He began the huge challenge in Blackpool on April 6 and headed along the coasts of England, Scotland and Wales.

Just after he completed his 2,000th mile he admitted it was tough. “My body has been screaming for me to stop.”
