Crowds pay respects at Bradford City fire disaster commemoration

An event to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the Bradford City fire disaster took place at the city's Centenary Square on Wednesday.

The ceremony was held to mark 31 years since the disaster on May 11, 1985, in which 56 supporters lost their lives and hundreds more were injured.

A welcome and introduction to the event was made by the Reverend Andy Greiff, Chaplain to Bradford City AFC, before Dean of Bradford the Very Reverned Jerry Lepine delivered an address.

The event was concluded by the Lord Mayor, Coun Joanne Dodds, laying a wreath on behalf of the City and District, followed by the Mayor of Lincoln, a Bradford City AFC representative, relatives of those who died in the disaster and the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
