It has been almost non stop expansion since Fox's moved on to the former wartime allotments off Victoria Avenue in 1927

The Yorkshire Society erected a ‘White Rose’ plaque on the end terrace house at 17 Whitaker Street, Batley, where the first Fox’s biscuit was baked in 1853.

Now Fox’s biscuits, which is now based in Wellington Street, Batley, employs 900 people and is part of a £3 billion international food business.

Former Fox’s worker of 11 years Nasima Passwala, 52, has lived in the house since 1982.

Her son Bilal, 30, who was born in the house and also worked shifts at Fox’s when he was a student, said: “The plaque is fantastic. It;’s great that our house is part of the history of Batley.”

Keith Madeley, chairman of the Yorkshire Society, said: “This is the first plaque to commemorate the formation of a company, but we hope this could be the first of many.”
