Cycling pensioner in fight for life after colllision

A pensioner was yesterday in hospital with "life-threatening" head injuries after his bike hit a car in Thorne Road, Doncaster, at about midday.

A black Ford Fiesta was travelling along Thorne Road towards the town centre when the cyclist, who was riding a grey BSA Metro, emerged from Clovelly Road.

The cyclist, a 79-year-old man from Edenthorpe, was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary. The Fiesta driver, a 52-year-old woman from Blaxton, was unhurt.
