Cyclist injured after collision with car that failed to stop in York

A cyclist has been injured after being involved in a collision with a car in York.

The crash happened on Lord Mayor's Walk at the junction with Clarence street after the rear wheel of the woman's bicycle was clipped by a a four-wheel drive car.

The woman fell off her bicycle and suffered injuries to her arms and face.

Police said the car, believed to be blue, did not stop following the collision.

The collision happened at around 5.50pm on Friday, May 26 as she was cycling away from traffic lights on Gillygate and travelling onto Clarence Street.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Unfortunately no members of the public stopped at the time to assist, or provide information to the cyclist or attending police officer.

"Anyone with information that could help the investigation should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101".
