Date for royal visit to Belfast confirmed
The Queen will make a two-day visit to Northern Ireland towards later this month as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour of the UK.
Buckingham Palace yesterday confirmed that The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will travel to Enniskillen and Belfast on June 26 and 27.
At the height of the troubles, the Queen visited Northern Ireland during her Silver Jubilee tour in 1977; she also visited during her Golden Jubilee year in 2002.
Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, a former IRA commander, gave a clear signal in April that he might meet the Queen during this Diamond Jubilee visit.
