Date for secrecy decision on 7/7 hearing revealed

MI5 will learn on Monday whether it has been successful in its attempt to overturn a coroner's refusal to hold closed sessions of the 7/7 inquests to hear evidence.

Coroner Lady Justice Hallett earlier rejected calls for the families of those killed in the 2005 London bombings to be excluded so she could examine highly sensitive intelligence material.

Home Secretary Theresa May went to the High Court to overturn the ruling, arguing that the coroner will not be able to reach accurate conclusions without seeing the secret evidence, which cannot be revealed in open sessions for security reasons.

Lady Justice Hallett announced yesterday that the judges would give their ruling in a five-minute hearing at 2pm on Monday.
