Dazzling dressage

Mark Todd on NZB Regent Lad, and Gary Parsonage on Fernhill O Dea, in the dressage joined some of the best event riders from the UK and abroad at Bramham International Horse Trials yesterday.

The sun shone on some dazzling displays of dressage as the four-day event got under way and this section of the competition will continue today with cross country topping the bill on Saturday.

Leading riders competing at Bramham this year include William Fox-Pitt, who is aiming for his sixth Bramham title; Andrew Nicholson, who won the event last year; Paul Tapner, another Bramham winner who recently won at Badminton for the first time; and Yorkshireman Oliver Townend.

The overnight leader in the senior CCI three star dressage was French team stalwart Jean-Lou Bigot, riding Lotus de Gobaude who finished on 46.4 penalties

Top names in action today will include Mark Todd and Piggy French.
