Selfies, desktop computers and the Labour party are among the touchstones of 21st century life we most expect to disappear in the next decade, according to a new poll.

Cheque books, fishmongers and greengrocers also made the “to go” list, along with TV shows like The X-Factor and Big Brother.

Beards are for the chop by 2025, too, as well as sugary drinks and DVD players, says the research by online estate agent easyProperty.

Some 11 percent of people polled in Leeds, York and across Yorkshire and the UK think the Labour party with new leader Jeremy Corbyn is doomed. But home ownership (65 per cent), the monarchy (53 percent) and the BBC (49 percent) are here to stay.

Trends expert and “consumer futurist” William Higham said: “Britain today is being rocked by change. Technologies are driving a revolution in the way we live, shop, eat and work that could be as big as that created by the printing press in the 16th Century or the steam engine in the 19th Century.

“This poll shows the impact it’s having: accelerating some industries and side-lining others, changing consumer attitudes and behaviours, making us into smart consumers”

The survey said fast food (48 percent), coffee shops (47 percent), marriage (40 percent) and denim (36% percent) would survive for the foreseeable future along with pubs (35 percent), tattoos (35 percent) and late running trains (34 percent).
