Deadline for volunteer grants looms

The deadline for community groups in the Keighley area to apply for a slice of funding is looming.

Organisations have until March 7 to bid for grants of up to £500 which are available through a new scheme called Connecting Communities.

The scheme is aimed at any two voluntary and community sector organisations in the Keighley constituency area which want to work together to benefit local people.

The area includes Haworth, Oxenhope, Steeton, Eastburn, Silsden, Addingham and Ilkley.

Councillor Steve Pullen, chair of Keighley Area Committee and the grants advisory group, said: “This fund is about communities sharing skills, knowledge and experiences. The area committee is demonstrating its faith that local people can do things for themselves.”
